What Daily Devotions DO NOT Achieve
Having a daily devotion does not secure favour with God. This has been a confusing issue in Christendom for many years. There are those who have thought that because they have had their daily time with God, He should answer their prayers the way they want Him to. They think of it like an earthly relationship where if I am pleased with you I am more likely to be nice to you. However, our heavenly Father loves us warts and all. As mentioned earlier, He loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for us while we were His enemy (Romans 5:6-11). So then, we are not working for grace, but from grace. We bring our prayers and requests to our loving Father not on the basis of our own merit (having my daily devotions or whatever else), but on the basis of Jesus’ merit and God’s love for us.
