Robert Walterson is a member of the Navigators Men’s Workers Group in Canberra. We asked him to tell us a bit about the group and how it has helped shape his growth.
How did you get involved in this group?
I got involved with Australian Navigators in 2018 at ANU’s Orientation Week. I was on my way to leave the event when a member of Navigators struck up a conversation with me. They invited me to a boardgames night which I went to, and the rest is history.
Describe a highlight of what you’ve learned over your time with the Men’s Workers Group.
I came to faith through the Navigators, so my highlight would be learning about God and coming to know Him as both my Lord and Saviour.
How has your time in the Word together helped you in disciple-making?
I believe our time in the Word has helped me in disciple-making in two areas:
Firstly, I believe God speaks to us and teaches us through His Word, so the time spent in the Word has helped me both develop and strengthen my own faith as well as help guide me in my actions and toward people He may wish for me to disciple.
Secondly, the practice of spending time in the Word with other believers has helped me to understand what it might look like to disciple others, and has provided me with both theological and practical knowledge of how to carry that out.
