Expecting God to Work!

Our new team members, JT and Laine, have only been in the country with us for two months now but already their contribution to God’s work at the ANU is showing…
For years we have struggled to gain interest from the students in weekends away such as conferences, retreats and camping trips. Even though we know the immense help that they are to building connections and their spiritual development, we have even given up in recent years on the beginning of the year camping trip that we used to hold annually as we simply have not had enough interest.
Yet, long car trips to and from, laced with good conversations, talks around the campfire late into the night, bonding over games and food and the inevitable spiritual discussions that surface on hikes or sitting on the beach are indispensable in student ministry. So, when we had a student get-together and the idea of a camping trip surfaced Levi and I were cautiously optimistic.
“Wow, they are interested again?” We thought, “I wonder if people will actually commit or bail when the signup deadline comes…”
We continued to pray and encouraged students to sign up as we usually do and this time – they did! We don’t know if it is the time that Laine and JT have spent on campus interacting with students, or their presence at our events and connecting with students individually, but either way they are the only thing that has changed, and clearly God is working!
Please pray for the four of us as staff and the eight students who came, that God would use our interactions and deepen His vision for using us to reach the ANU and the world. We are expecting Him to work!
