From Grant and Scott to You

Dear Friend,
Transitions happen continually. Some are distinct and profound, like the transition from living at home with your parents to moving out. Or from being an unmarried couple to being husband and wife. And most dramatically and profoundly, transitioning from unbelief to becoming a follower of Jesus. Transitions like these are so profound because they involve deep and permanent shifts in the way you think, the values you hold and your way of life.
Other transitions happen naturally, almost indiscernibly. Like moving from pre-teen to teenager, from adolescent to adult, or from parent of one to parent of two. The changes marked during these transitions are less dramatic as the central aspects of who you are and what you do remain unchanged.
We are walking through our own period of transition in the Navigators, one which is much more natural than profound. Fifteen years ago, two men who would become very close friends and family members met when Grant invited Scott to join the work of the Navigators in Australia. Since that time, we have been working closely together for so many years that this transition doesn’t feel like an entirely new phase or an entirely new job. It’s simply carrying out that job through a new role, for Scott as National Director and for Grant as a local labourer. So, through this new phase of life more will stay the same than will change. In fact, the job for each of us and for the Navigators remains the same, to advance the gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of labourers living and discipling among the lost.
Therefore, the things that matter most will remain the same. Our focus on God will remain. The making of generational labourers will remain. Working deeply with a few will remain. Walking close with Jesus as the centre of our lives will remain. The importance of prayer, the word, fellowship, witnessing and living obedient lives will remain. But most importantly, our God will remain the same (Hebrews 13:8).
Labouring together,
Scott Brown and Grant Dibden
