Your Questions Answered: What Feeds Your Joy?

Christine Norrie is a friend of the Australian Navigators. She is a wife and a mother of two, who delights in coordinating the kids ministry at her church, teaching SRE at a local school, and homeschooling her 11-year-old son. She put her faith in Jesus as a little person and continues to be challenged and encouraged in her faith.

Q: What feeds your joy?

As I reflect on what brings me joy everyday, there’s been a few lightbulb moments. I find my joy increases as I spend time in God’s creation, see my children flourish, see the kids at church grow closer to their Heavenly Father. There’s joy in being part of God’s family, being thankful, and living in a way that honours Him. The surprising one for me was how joyful serving the Lord is!

Serving the Lord from a heart that loves Him increases joy!

I’ve had the privilege of serving in Kids Ministry — and what a joy it is! Serving alongside others who love Jesus and have a heart for discipling little ones. Encouraging and being encouraged. Working hard for the Lord … totally brings joy! When my time and energy is invested in serving God because He loves me and I Him, joy is unavoidable!

When I surrender my own will and accept God’s will for my life, my joy increases!

Joy is an incredible gift from God! Something the world can never offer us. It comes from the anchoring and steadfast understanding that I am a child of God and my hope is in Him. Living in step with His Spirit and what He has planned for my life brings me joy.

Nothing is more joyful than being in a close and right relationship with our Heavenly Father.

God loves me. Me! I’m reminded of this by spending time in God’s word. Reflecting on Jesus, who shows us the Father. Being still. Talking to him. Listening. Immersing myself in His church. Serving Him with the gifts He’s given.

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” ~ 1 Peter 1:8-9
