Update November 2016

One of my favourite verses of Scripture is:
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out labourers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:36-38
Labourers … workers who get their hands dirty. They work up a sweat in the harvest field. They receive a little bit of instruction and then start working straight away, like an apprentice or an unskilled fruit picker. Before long they are leading others, showing the new recruit how to do the job, passing on their knowledge while continuing to learn themselves.
The reason this is one of my favourite verses is because Navigators are labourers. We are kingdom labourers who work for the King of kings. We are in God’s harvest field being used by Him to bring others to Himself and to help them grow and start labouring themselves. We lead people by being an example, coming alongside them, coaching and mentoring them, as we ourselves continue to learn.
In this edition you will read about our leaders labouring alongside their disciples and seeing generations being formed at Macquarie Uni. As labourers for the King it is crucial that our relationship with Him takes first priority, so you will also read about some practices to deepen this relationship through intimacy with God. And you’ll have your questions answered about our leadership training, which is more aptly called our Ministry Apprenticeship Program.
Together let us go wherever He leads and do whatever He asks. Lead On!
